While some of the traditions have stayed, there are also some changes as part of Fortnite's evolution into multiple modes at the start of Chapter Five. If you're a new or returning player, you might need a refresher on how everything works, so this guide is for you.

Updated December 30, 2023: We've updated this guide to include the latest quests and information. There are now enough Winterfest Quests to complete the main objective.

How To Claim Winterfest 2023 Presents

Fortnite: Chapter Five - Complete Guide To Winterfest (2)

When you log in during Winterfest 2023, you can scroll over to the 'Quests' tab, where there will be a 'Daily Gift' section at the top. If you haven't already received the gift for the day, you'll be able to press or click the prompted button to open your present for the day.

If you're subscribed to the Fortnite Crew, you may get the first gift automatically when you log in, since it's already connected to a bonus style that you'll get as part of that subscription.

If that happens, there will be no cosmetics shown when you open the first gift.

There will be 14 days of free cosmetics, lasting from December 14 -28, 2023, offering opportunities for gifts even after the major holiday rolls around.

Even if you don't get an opportunity to open them each day, you'll still have the opportunity to claim the multiple earned gifts until Jan. 2, 2024, at 9am EST.

The two new skins being gifted during Fortnite's Winterfest 2023 will have figurines available to play in the Lego Fortnite game mode.

There's also the chance to earn multiple battle pass levels thanks to the new holiday and seasonal-themed quests. This year, the quests are separated into the character-specific Snapshot Quests, more general Winterfest Quests, and the Ship It! Express Quests. There are also overall goals to be met for Winterfest; unlocking more cosmetics.

Overall Winterfest Goals

Quest Objective

Reward

Complete 19 Winterfest Quests.

Snowglobe Smasher

Complete Ship It! Express Snapshot.

Battle Pass Level Up

Complete Ship It! Express Snapshot.

Battle Pass Level Up

More Winterfest Quests will be released as the event continues.

Snapshot Quests

Fortnite: Chapter Five - Complete Guide To Winterfest (5)

There are currently multiple Ship It! Express Snapshot quest, similar to other character-specific missions in previous seasons. As part of the event, you will see new corporations on the island, like Ship It! Express. Each Snapshot is a multi-stage quest, and you won't be able to unlock the general reward until all four stages are completed.

Stage

Objective

Reward

One

Visit a Ship It! Express Location.

15,000 XP

Two

Investigate three stolen present stashes.

15,000 XP

Three

Visit Crackshot's Cabin when the floating loot island appears.

15,000 XP

Four

Talk to Holiday Boxy about the stolen boxes.

15,000 XP

Thankfully, all the locations for this quest are marked on the map. That means you'll be able to mark them at the start of the match or as you go, which will allow you to get through each objective in less time.

The only place that isn't marked is Crackshot's Cabin, but you can find that on the floating island that appears in the middle of each match.

Stage

Objective

Reward

One

Destroy the hacked Ship It! Express Drones at Hot Spots.

15,000 XP

Two

Use a Sneaky Snowmando prop near Krampus and his presents.

15,000 XP

Three

Place a beacon near Krampus's stolen present stash.

15,000 XP

Four

Eliminate Krampus to save Winterfest.

15,000 XP

Krampus is slightly weaker than the Society's bosses around the island, so facing him by yourself at full shields with weapons won't be a long fight.

As with the first quest, all the locations are easily markable on the map. The only location without a specific objective marker appears in Hot Spots, which are the yellow-tinted names of major POIs that change each match. For that objective, shoot the flying blue drones out of the sky, which also drops loot.

There is currently a Snapshot quest that requires players to collect a gift from Sgt. Winter around the map, but he was not added for about 12 hours after the quest went live.

The next Snapshot quest is fairly easy once you find Sgt. Winter, but he's much easier to track down than in previous years. Simply head to the Christmas-themed island with the present production system to the right of the in-game marker. It has a large ice-lake in the middle that's hard to miss.

Stage

Objective

Reward

One

Collect an item from a present thrown by Sgt. Winter.

15,000 XP

Two

Deliver three packages to their rightful destinations.

15,000 XP

Three

Place three festive snow creatures.

15,000 XP

Four

Emote with Holiday Boxy or Sgt. Winter.

15,000 XP

All the other stages of the quest outside Sgt. Winter's location have accurate markers on the map, with the Santa knock-off only being a little to the right of his objective marker. Just stand near him for around ten seconds, and he's likely to throw a gift.

The Snowball Launcher can be easily acquired from Boxy if you have enough gold, so it may be worth robbing a vault before you pay her a visit. The NPC enemies also count as opponents, so hitting them with the Snowball Launcher is sure to work.

Fortnite: Chapter Five - Complete Guide To Winterfest (7)

You can find Winterfest presents if you land on the island where Sgt. Winter can be found on the northernmost middle part of the map. You can tell the difference between Winterfest presents and decorative ones by the golden glow and loot noise, similar to the base chests. There are also Christmas trees at many POIs that have the chance to spawn presents as well.

Sneaky Snowmandos and Frozen Floppers seem to be more likely to appear in the snowy areas of the map, which you will have plenty of time to explore as you damage NPCs and enemy players to complete the four-part objective.

Ship It! Express LTM Quests

Fortnite: Chapter Five - Complete Guide To Winterfest (8)

The Ship It! Express Limited Time Mode is a special take on Battle Royale that Epic Games is releasing for a limited time during Winterfest this year. In it, you will become employees of Ship It! Express and will only be able to use items on the island that can be thrown.

Stage

Objective

Reward

One

Damage enemy players for 300 with thrown items in Ship It! Express.

15,000 XP

Even though it takes place in a different mode, any Ship It! Express quests will count towards your Winterfest Quests total.
